Hi there,
I have spent some time reviewing the various documents for vRanger 5.3 and 5.3.1. vRanger is not a product that I have worked with before.
When I read the deployment guide, it indicates that a single vRanger vm is required to manage multiple esxi hosts. However when reading the installation and setup guide it appears that I need to install a vApp on every single host (in which replication needs to occur).
I must admit that I am somewhat confused in terms of the architecture requirements. I have a customer who is currently on vSphere 4.1 with 7 ESX 4.1 hosts across 2 sites. Each site is managed by a different vCenter. vRanger currently replicates a number of vm's from site a to site b.
The plan is to upgrade these sites to ESXi 5 and I have read that vRanger will need to be upgraded to at least version 5.3 for support purposes.
From what I have read, it would appear that I need to install the vRanger virtual applance on all 7 hosts? Or is vRanger able to communicate with vCenter(s) to replicate from/to different hosts? Guidance is much appreciated!
Thanks for your help,
David.
