Hi Guys,

Does anyone know the maximum number of vRanger about backup history and repository as below?

I have some questions about vRanger limitation from my customer. He compares vRanger with VMware Data Recovery(VDR).

1)Maximum number of backup history

It is useful information when catalog is enabled.

http://communities.quest.com/docs/DOC-8113

I'm not sure when catalog is disabled.

Does anyone know the exact maximum number of backup history?

2)Maximum number of repository that vRanger can use at same time

My understanding is unlimited. Is that correct?

As you know VDR  can have 2 datastores per VA.

3)Maximum size per repository

vRanger Deployment Guide described as below;

- The volume limitations described in this section are limitations within the Microsoft Windows environment.

o Default Configuration- A standard volume, with an MBR partition on a basic disk, has a limit of 2 TB. In this configuration, the vRanger Pro repository cannot exceed 2 TB.

o Dynamic Disks - A repository located on dynamic disk volumes can be as large as 64 TB.

However these are about CIFS repository. Does anyone know about the rest of repository such as NFS,FTP,SFTP,NVSD?

My understanding is that it depends on limitation of those storages . Is that correct?

VDR can have 1 TB RDM based datastore or 500GB CIFS based datastore.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best Regards,

Tetsuo Yamamoto
